Winifred Barbera

The Barbera grape is one of the most common varieties in the Piedmont region of Italy. It has been grown in Australia for many years and we are one of 4 producers in the Broke Fordwich Wine Region. It ripens late, has a high level of natural acidity and produces a full-bodied wine with deep ruby colour.

Our Winifred Barbera, named after Wendy’s Mother, is a most pleasing addition to our range.

The wine has smoky and earthy undertones of sour cherry on the nose and a mild oak influence is revealed. The palate shows substantial fruit weight distinctive to this unique varietal and overall the wine has good body and healthy tannins with a powerful lingering finish.

Since 2006 our Barbera has been aged for 2 years in oak Barrels stored in optimum conditions at Hunter Wine Services at Muswellbrook.
