Catherine Vale is working with the Hunter Valley Wine Industry Association to improve it’s vineyards environmental management and that of the rest of the 100 acre property and methods used in it’s vineyard management. This has involved workshops with e-par a company working with many industries on a worldwide basis to improve a company’s capability to monitor and improve management practices.
In addition to this Catherine Vale is working to decrease its use of synthetic chemicals in vineyard production.
Insecticides- Since 1994 Catherine Vale has not used insecticides.
Pruning - All past season canes removed are left to mulch under the vines to improve the soil capabilities and improve the carbon reduction rather than from the normal practice of burning the canes.
